48th NATIONAL FOLK FESTIVAL

Thu 17th to Mon 21st April 2014

Exhibition Park in Canberra

To preserve, nurture and promote folk culture as an essential element in Australian life. To promote the benefits of folk culture as a medium for education.

The National is THE event for participation and developing your skills and talents - with many 'blackboard' opportunities - in traditional and contemporary folk music and dance from around the world, song, spoken word, art and crafts from many diverse cultures.

The National is the most 'livable' festival event in Australia - with large indoor all-weather venues with good acoustics, augmented by intimate themed venues and spaces - with delectable food stalls, cafes and bars - and most importantly - the world's best acoustic artists - and lots of opportunities for up-and-coming young artists - especially at the Folk Fringe Festival under the Big Top!
